What is a Cybersecurity Engineer?

A cybersecurity engineer protects systems and data from people trying to misuse them. Depending on the role that might mean testing applications for weaknesses, designing defences, responding to incidents, or reviewing how a system is built before it ships. You need to understand how things work in detail before you can understand how they fail — which is why security is rarely a first job.
