An embedded systems engineer writes software that runs on hardware rather than servers — inside appliances, cars, medical devices, sensors and industrial equipment. Memory and processing power are limited, updates may be difficult or impossible once shipped, and the software often has to interact directly with electronics. It sits at the boundary of software and hardware engineering.
